Apple has recently announced the new iPhone 14 and iPhone Plus. For those who prefer a bigger screen, the iPhone 14 Plus features a large 6.7 inches display, while the iPhone 14 has a smaller 6.1-inches screen.
Here is a brief overview of every new feature on the iPhone 14, including significant camera enhancements, enhanced eSIM compatibility, and new Emergency SOS through satellite capability.
Price and Launch Date:
The iPhone 14 will be released on 16 September 2022. The iPhone 14 pricing starts from $799 and the iPhone 14 Plus starts from $899.
Design:
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature a strong and stylish aerospace-grade aluminum design with five gorgeous finishes. Both models include stunning Super Retina XDR displays with OLED technology that enables 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, and Dolby Vision, and enhanced interior design for better thermal performance.
Additionally, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus include the strong Ceramic Shield front cover, which is exclusive to iPhone and more durable than any other smartphone glass. They also have water and dust resistance to protect them from typical spills and accidents.
Camera
There’s an enhanced 12-megapixel Wide camera with sensor-shift optical image stabilization, a bigger sensor, an f/1.5 aperture, and larger 1.9 m pixels for better performance in low light. Apple also added a new TrueDepth camera with an improved /1.9 aperture, while the Ultra Wide lens didn’t receive any upgrades. The Photonic Engine also helps improve low-light photography on all of the iPhone 14 cameras.
Using a combination of hardware and software, The Photonic Engine enhances low-light performance by up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and 2.5x on the Wide camera. The Photonic Engine improves on Deep Fusion by adding amazing detail, maintaining fine textures, and offering better color.
There is an Action Mode for a video that offers more effective image stabilization and effortless videos than ever. Even when the video is recorded in the midst of an event, Action Mode is enabled and adjusted to strong shakes, movements, and vibrations. The upgraded Cinematic Mode is now available in 4K at 30 fps and 4K at 24 fps. The True Tone flash has higher consistency and is 10% brighter for more reliable lighting.

Crash Detection and Emergency
The dual-core accelerometer included in the iPhone 14 models can measure up to 256Gs, and it powers the Crash Detection feature, which can alert emergency services if you’re in a serious accident and are unable to access your iPhone. Apple also uses other sensors to enable this feature such as the barometer can detect variations in cabin pressure, the GPS can monitor changes in speed, and the microphone can pick up the sounds of car crashes.
Additionally, Apple updated the iPhone 14 with Emergency SOS via satellite, a feature that enables users to communicate in an emergency without WiFi or cellular service by connecting directly to satellites.
In open areas with few trees, emergency SOS via satellite can be used to text rescue teams. It works in the United States and Canada and is free for two years. While you’re out hiking or camping in distant places, you can share your location through satellite connectivity with friends and family using the Find My option.
5G Connection and Modem
The iPhone 14 models use a new Qualcomm X65 modem and, like the iPhone 13 models, support a 5G connection (sub-6GHz and mmWave in the US). As a result, it offers fast streaming, downloading, sharing, and uploading content.
Sim Card
Since carriers now use eSIM, American iPhone models do not come with physical SIM cards. It allows users to experience fast transfer of digital plans and is more secure than sim cards.
Battery Life
The iPhone 14’s battery life has improved, lasting an hour longer than the iPhone 13’s The iPhone 14 Plus offers users longer battery life as compared to iPhone 14, due to its large size. When watching videos, the iPhone 14 battery can last for 20 hours, while the iPhone 14 Plus has a battery life of 26 hours.
iOS 16
Everyone has all the information and knows well about iOS 16, but the iPhone 14 will be having its most recent upgrades, such as the updated lock screen, modifications to Mail and Messages, intelligence features, and much more. Within the next few weeks, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available with iOS 16. Users will also experience The upgraded Live Text and Visual Lookup as well as the new iCloud Shared Photo Libraries.
